This gorgeous Cherry Chocolate Porridge is from the Yoga Delight Menu. The chocolate activates the system in the morning. Cherries are late spring fruits that work wonders when it comes to resetting the biological clock. They contain a natural form of melatonin that will help those who suffer from jetlag and insomnia. You’ll reestablish a perfect pattern of being active during the day (yang) and snoozy during the evening (yin). You’ll eat yourself back to balance!
Makes 4-5 portions
Takes 60 minutes
Ingredients
10 hands black rice
Water for cooking
5 medjool dates, no pit, chopped
500-750 ml nut mylk*
50 drops organic vanilla extract
2 ½ tablespoons cacao powder
*I use rice almond mylk
Topping
5 hands frozen sour cherries
5 small tablespoons hemp seeds
sage
Instructions
Place black rice in porridge pot with chopped medjool dates and two times the amount of water. Cook at a medium low fire for 45 minutes. add nut mylk, vanilla extract and cacao powder. Stir, turn heat down and simmer for another 15 minutes without lid on. Turn heat off. Scoop porridge in bowl, top with 1 hand defrosted cherries, 1 small tablespoon hemp seeds and a sprinkle of sage. Enjoy!
